About Me
Hi! My name is Laura Woodburn and I am a final year Media, Industry, and Innovation BA(Hons) student at the University of Brighton. Since undertaking my degree, I have developed a strong interest in the marketing sector, particularly digital marketing.

Throughout my degree, I have studied a range of subjects surrounding the different sectors within the creative industries which have all given me valuable skills and knowledge that I can put into practice beyond university.

From my time at university, I have gained notable skills in research. Nearly all of my university projects have been based upon research in some way or another, particularly my live project, which was independent research in partnership with an organisation.

Industry Placement
During my second year of university, I undertook a four-week working placement as part of one of my modules. I did my placement at a digital marketing agency in Brighton called Seed, where I spent my time equally learning about search engine optimisation (SEO) and pay-per-click (PPC) marketing.

During my placement, my key duties were:

Keyword research
Planning, managing, strategising and delivering SEO campaigns for clients
Onsite SEO
Off-site SEO
Technical PPC audits for clients
Reviewing and analysing backlink profiles
PPC reports
Social media posts
Ad copy for text campaigns

This placement allowed me to experience what it would be like to work within the digital marketing industry first-hand and allowed me to understand the basics of SEO and PPC. Having the opportunity to work within the digital marketing industry solidified my aspiration to work within this industry upon graduation. Because of this, I knew I wanted to conduct my final year project on digital marketing so I could further my knowledge and experience in this area.
